I am doing this post from David and Katy's house. It's so nice to be in Philly, close to family. Today was a pretty good day for Dinky, a frustrating one for his mom. He was doing really well but there were times when I felt like he was in pain and it wasn't being addressed. I often struggle with wanting to get along with everyone but also trying to advocate for Dinky, which is my number one priority. There are times that it's a fine line, and today was one of them.
The highlight of today was that Dinky had 2 visitors! Pat, one of the head nurses from the hospital we just left came by to visit. It was so nice of her to want to see how Dinky was doing. We had a nice visit with her. Then Sue came to visit and got to meet our little feller. She was a great support to me today. Speaking of Sue, it seems that she's been up to a little something, a "book drive" for my 2 babies (Martin and Dinky) to have their story time together. THANK YOU ALL so much for sending in such special books. We were completely surprised and touched. Thank you again. Sincerely.

I felt like quite the proud "aunt" yesterday getting to spend some quality time meeting Edison. He is so beautiful and amazing. I was just entranced watching him. Just the way he presses his foot against your hand if you hold it there will melt your heart!!
I was/am so proud of Martin and Jen. I got to see Jen being a mama bear and brush his hair (which he LOVES). And I swear I think either of them could get through medical school with great ease at this point. Watching Jen speak with the nurses about Edison's condition and her concerns for his treatment was amazing. Jen & Martin - keep up your advocacy. You know your baby best so please don't hold your tongue if you are concerned about him and feel like certain needs aren't being addressed. To hell with anyone else's opinions. You did a great job yesterday (and everyday)! I can't wait for my next visit! Love to you all!!
Hi Dinky,
Today is such a pretty day here in NC, and I've just been sitting on my (now pollen-free!) swing on my (now pollen-free!) screen porch thinking about you. I was slowly swinging and thinking about how wonderful it would feel to hold you close as the swing goes gently back and forth, squeaking ever so faintly. That day will come, so we'll be patient together.
One more thing, Dinky dear. When you see Kim, Sue, Shannon, and Monica again, tell them Dobie appreciates their first-hand reports following their visits with you. They greatly help those of us who are far away! love...
