Tuesday, 8/23

Dinky had a great day today. He enjoyed a visit from his Aunt Moni and Uncle Tyson. Monika and Martin gave him a bath and Martin dressed him in his "Daddy's Boy" onesie. He loves attention and was eating it up today.

Edison is getting big, big, big. He is up to 10 pounds 9 ounces and looks every bit of it. Ever since our friend Valery brought him a Chicago Cubs outfit he's been working to fit into it. It won't be long!

We did meet with the surgeon today to get more information on the Nissen surgery. He anticipates doing it late next week or early the following week. It's hard to say if this will be a magic bullet because Edison has so many issues that could be playing into what appears to be reflux (his esophagus closing up, his tracheomalacia, etc.) However the surgeon feels the reflux is risky enough and significant enough to do the surgery. Until then he'll just continue to grow! Every day that that's all he has to focus on is a good day.

You both have so much to share with the new NICU baby's parent(s), please do so and share that we are thinking about them, too.

On Dinky's front, even with the let-down in thinking that our boy might be going home really soon, we have trust in the judgement that you two and your caretakers come to agreement on regarding what's next.

In a funny way, I think that the Dink is listening to all your conversations, and will somehow let you know if he doesn't agree.

Tell 'em, Spunky.

Love ya all,
Pa

I'm glad Monica and Tyson could visit again and see the amazing progress our star has made. 10 pounds, 9 ounces! That means our sweetie is a little heavier than 2 five pound bags of sugar! What a difference from just a short while ago.

J & M, I am so happy you are there to offer support to the new parents who now face the same challenges you two and Dinky have plowed through. God bless. love...

Mr. Dinky just loves to play to the crowd, and I know he must have had a ball with his aunt and uncle. I am so very happy to hear about H.R.C. (His Royal Chunkiness)enjoying so much of his days now. It is hard to look at him now and think about him as the baby who has gone through so much in his short life because he doesn't act like it at all!

Most people outside of our circle would probably be surprised to hear about someone sharing her experience so candidly and unselfishly, as Jen did with the new NICU mommy. But Mary said it best when she said that is just who Jen(nifer) is. I am sure that the other mom was so comforted by listening to the stories you, Martin, and Dinky have to share, Jen. THANK YOU for being your wonderful self! I love you. (MARTIN & EDISON TOO!!)
