Wednesday, 8/10

Another good day today. They are continuing to advance Dinky on his g-tube feeds. If all goes well he'll be on full gastric feeds in 12 days. He also stayed off his oxygen all day again!

Tonight we met with a prospective pediatrician who seemed very nice and knowledgeable. All of these are steps getting us closer to home. Martin and I will need to take a few classes at the hospital (CPR, g-tube care) in the next few weeks, too.

We are definitely starting to see Dinky's personality shine through. He is a character. We got tickled today because Martin and I were on either side of his crib doing all of the goofy things we could think of to try and illicit that million dollar smile. Dinky just stared at us with this look of sheer boredom and UNamusement. Finally we decided that maybe he just wanted to be left alone so we went and sat out of his sight where we watched him proceed to have a grand old time all by himself. His arms were moving, his legs were kicking his little ball, and he was all smiles. After a few minutes, I wanted to join in the fun so I snuck up beside him but once he caught me out of the corner of his eye he very deliberately turned away. I sat back down and he quickly returned to his smiley, playful self. He is a funny boy.

What a little stinker! Just further proof that he is indeed "Baby Brains"...he's already figured out how to wrap mommy and daddy around his chubby little finger!

Love to all,
Sue

Awesome, awesome, awesome!! I returned today from a trip with Dinky's "Ma" and other relatives, and I have just caught up on all the postings I missed while exiled from technology in the mountains of NC. What amazing progress he is making! I can see why you feel as though you are going to burst with pride! Beautiful baby boy, beautiful mom and dad, beautiful life! love...
