Things....are....happening....verrrrrry.....slooooooowwly. That's how I feel about this whole process. We know some things that are definitely wrong now (the PDA, the collapsed bronchus) but it just feels like plans take forever. The ECHO was done today but it was ordered late morning so it didn't happen until afternoon so we won't know the results until tomorrow. I'll be surprised if we have a firm plan in place by the end of the week. I'm concerned because his blood pressure was running high today and I'm worried it's because of the PDA.

The good news is he had his 2nd eye exam today and there's still no sign of retinopathy. The doctor continues to think that may be a possibility but Dinky continues to prove him wrong. HA! Dinky is also getting incredibly strong. Today he practically lifted his head all the way up (he was on his belly) and seemed to be starting to turn it. This was scary because he has the tube in his mouth but it was also exciting because he's getting very strong.

Now that he's back on the jet ventilator I am not able to hold him. (I've only held him that one time). But I did get to do a modified version today. He was in his isolette with the top open and the side down and I was able to hold his head while he was reclined into my hand. So his back was off the bed and my hand was cradling his head. It felt so nice. I told Martin we have to start calling him "Peach" because his head feels so soft and fuzzy but I think we'll stick with Dinky :)

When we were growing up, our Uncle Richmond could send your mom and me into giggling fits by reciting this silly little chant involving her name (Mary Alice). Here's the way it went:

"Mary-al, Kizzer-al, long goody, short goody, bitty witty, Sister Suzannah!"

It took only that mischievious glint in his eye to reduce both of us to hopelessly giggling, silly little girls as we anticipated his chant. Here's one for our babe:

"Wee-Dinky-lee, Peachy-pooh, Spunky-lou, Edison-eddy-son, baby-ruthy-Ruef, biggy-boy-son!"

Now, when he heads to UNC (#1!!) in his new car (bought by Mom and Dad), we can all gather round to recite this little chant and recall our big fella's weeks of struggles! love...

The Heels did it, big time! Now, Spunky, it's your turn to win your championship battle. You have tons of cheerleaders, ya got the muscle power and heart to beat the odds, just like Carolina. Go to it "big-little guy". Love ya tons.
