Happy Easter! We had a nice brunch w/ my parents and David and Katy and crew before heading to the hospital to see our little Easter bunny. He was doing well today and there's really nothing new to report. Tomorrow he will get the medicine to try and close his PDA. We hope this will work although we know the chances are slim and that he'll probably require surgery. But today he really had a quiet day.
Since there's not a lot to report we wanted to take the time to thank you all for your support. We have truly been overwhelmed by the number of people that take the time to read the blog and pray and think about us. We can't tell you how much that has helped us during these last 7 weeks. This has been such an education for us. I remember when we toured the maternity ward at Princeton, where we thought Dinky would be born. They showed us the "special care nursery" and I turned to Martin and said, "I can't imagine". Little did I know that 4 short weeks later we would be not in the special care nursery, that at the time seemed so unimaginable, but in the neonatal intensive care unit. And while this has been such a difficult time it has been an education in trust, patience, love, strength, bravery and joy. Dinky is the teacher and we are his students. And you, our family and friends, are the glue that is holding us together while we learn these valuable lessons. And we thank you.

It is truly amazing to me how attached Mary and I feel to Dinky, even though we have had so little time with him--- not been able to hold him, have not heard him cry, or been able to change a stinky diaper. It is obvious that others feel an incredible attachment, as well. Never until now have I quite understood the premise of channeled love. Now I get it.
Jennifer and Martin have been able to share what they feel and love in a way, through words, that I would never have felt possible. How unselfish, how meaningful, and how so appreciated since we can't be there every day.
In terms that I have heard from many..."squeeze a finger" for all of us, and you two, keep on squeezing each other. We love you.
Jen, we were having Easter dinner with Renee and Ben last night, and conversation wandered as it often does to Dinky and his beloved family. We were discussing the incredible occasion this week where you were able to hold your precious son, and we were all borrowing from that experience and how special it must have been. Renee, with a particular connectedness added, “Especially for Jennifer”.
May the love of Christ continue to be the tie that binds...

Again, the word is amazing! J & M, if we, your friends and family scattered throughout the world, are what is holding you together, then it surely is a two-sided tape! Because, my dears, it is you who are holding us together. Thanks for sharing Dinky's experiences, progress, and setbacks with us. I know it is difficult sometimes to post your updates, and I love you because you do anyway! love...

I don't think that I am capable of writing anything nearly as beautiful as what has already been written. So I will just say, "amen".
