Today marks the end of summer, which means tomorrow we will officially begin our fourth season in the hospital. Hopefully this one will be just for a week or two. Dinky's doing great but is not a fan of the swallowing study. The second one yesterday was not a success, largely because we had to wait for 30 minutes and he got a little grumpy. They don't feel comfortable trying to feed him when he's crying. So...we'll try for round three sometime this week. Third times a charm? We'll see.
Other than that the plans are still on schedule for within 2 weeks. We will have a family meeting next Tuesday and our equipment should be arriving at the hospital during the next several days. We are going to try and spend next weekend in a family room with Edison where we would be responsible for all of his care but would still have a nurse available if needed. This will be a good dress rehearsal!

The dress rehearsal sounds like a great idea. Hopefully, it will make you feel less nervous and a little more comfortable about caring for Edison on your own for the first time. We all wish you a VERY successful dry run!!
Love to you,
Sue
I am not doing well as a homeless vagrant these days, but that will soon end. One of the worst things for me has been not being able to access the blog whenever I want, so my info is usually running a little behind. My thoughts and my interest remain constant.
This is an exciting time for you and for those of us who have traveled with you. We'll still be here, and we'll look forward to the big days and giant steps that are ahead.
One other note to share. That Martin is something else! When Missy and I were kind of drifting around at CHOP the other day, sort of lost in that great big place, who should appear out of nowhere but Martin! We were amazed that he showed up at that precise moment.
Well, when we drove to Princeton Monday so I could see the campus, we were driving among hundreds and hundreds of milling students and faculty scurrying all over, and guess who appeared at the crosswalk where we stopped to allow for crossing: Martin!
I'll declare, he's everywhere! :-)
love....
