Things continue to go well, very well, for our SEVEN POUND BABY! Yay! He finally hit the mark. So he's gained 5 pounds since he was born. His thighs are starting to get chunky which is just a wonderful sight! Yesterday they weaned him down to 2L of oxygen and he's doing great. Because he's on a lower level the tubing is smaller so it's even easier to get him in and out of bed. They are also working on weaning his morphine. All in all he's really doing fantastic.
All of that is to say we're nervous about the end of the week. I think I mentioned the surgeon wants to take him to the O.R. for his next esophagus dilitation. Hopefully he will be able to do this without a setback. It will be Thursday or Friday, we'll let you know.
A very big thank you to "ma" and "pa" for making our new house feel like home. They have spent the past 2 days unpacking, decorating and hanging blinds. It has been a huge help. My mom and I even went grocery shopping today! It's the first real grocery shopping run we've done in almost 5 months! I'm proud to say that tomorrow Martin will enjoy his cereal with milk!
I cautiously say that we are starting to see the light at the end of this very long tunnel.

Glory, glory, glory! What wonderful news all the way around. I am confident that the esophageal dilation will go well and will send Dinky even further along this journey. And please remind him that he is the first in this family to ever be cheered for weight gain!!! love...

Wow! Seven pounds??!! That is fantastic. I am so happy for all of you. It sounds like things are falling into place and Dinky will be able to go home to his family soon enough. I can't wait to hear about all the new memories you will create in your new home with your beautiful child. Congratulations on all Dinky's progress. We are all behind you 120%.
Love, Sue
This is a "PS" comment. I had to chuckle when I checked here this morning to see if there was an additional posting, and I noticed yesterday's date, "Tuesday, 6/?" Message communicated loud and clear: Things have been so crazy you don't have a clue what the date is! I can relate to that!! love...

Mind if I brag a little? Dinky is absolutely beautiful, alert, and even has a sense of humor. Being able to hold and rock him, and seeing his mom doing what she so deserves to do... "mother him"... will be remembered forever.
We had a great visit, and I must say, Mary and I (being rather experienced at it) did a great job of organizing, decorating, and helping warm a new home. I took great pleasure in setting up the walnut cradle that Jen's granddaddy made for our David when he was born 38 years ago and in dreaming of the day when Dinky sleeps in it.
I am one proud Pa.
